Friday's Local Sports Schedule a go, after Thursday's wash out

Local Sports Schedule for Friday, May 3-

After rain washed out Thursday’s Local Sports Schedule, a busy slate should be a go for this Friday.

-That includes the Antigo Red Robins baseball team’s Great Northern Conference game at Medford.  It’s a rematch of a game won by Medford on Tuesday by a 2-0 final.  Antigo enters today’s tilt with a 6-3 overall record, including 3-2 in the GNC.  Medford is enjoying another strong campaign at 11-2 and 5-2 in conference play.  First pitch is set for 4:30, with today’s game airing live on Lakes 98.7, beginning with the Progressive Dental Pregame Show at 4:15.

-Wittenberg-Birnamwood  will make up its game from yesterday, hosting Iola-Scandinavia in Central Wisconsin East Conference play.  The Chargers are 10-2 on the year, 5-2 in the CWC East.  Iola-Scandinavia enters 5-6 and 4-4 in conference.  Witt-Birn won the first meeting between the teams, 11-0 in early April.  Tonight’s rematch begins at 4:30.

-Elcho will host Laona-Wabeno in another makeup game from Thursday.  The Hornets are in search of their first win, while Laona-Wabeno is 4-6 and 3-1 in the Northern Lakes Conference.  First pitch set for 5 p.m.

-Softball will see the Antigo Red Robins entertain Rhinelander in a 4:30 start from Al Remington Field.  The Robins are looking for a season sweep of the one-win Hodags, and are 8-5 overall, 5-3 in the Great Northern Conference.

-Wittenberg-Birnamwood will welcome Iola-Scandinavia to town for a 4:30 first pitch.  The Lady Chargers are looking for a season split after a 9-2 loss to the Thunderbirds on April 8.  Witt-Birn is 11-5-1 overall and 6-3 in the CWC East.  Iola-Scandinavia is 10-5 overall, but lead the conference standings with a 9-1 league mark.

-Elcho is home to Goodman-Pembine in Northern Lakes softball.  The Hornets are winless, while Goodman-Pembine holds a season record of 5-8 and 2-2 in conference play.  First pitch set for 5 p.m.

-Antigo will play host to Three Lakes in girls soccer.  Antigo is 0-6, Three Lakes 3-2-1.  That one gets underway at 5 p.m.

-The Antigo Red Robins boys tennis team will take part in the Wausau West Tournament.  The two-day event begins today at noon.

-The Antigo track teams are also in action today, competing in the Merrill Invite, which starts at 5.
