Thursday's Local Sports Schedule

Local Sports Schedule for Thursday, May 2-

-A busy local sports schedule for your Thursday, that is weather permitting.  We will start with a postponement, as the Antigo-Medford baseball game originally slated to be played in Medford has been moved to Friday in an attempt to beat the weather.

Still on at least for now, is a number of contests, including a number of games on area diamonds.

-Wittenberg-Birnamwood is home to Iola-Scandinavia in Central Wisconsin East Conference play.  The Chargers hold a 10-2 season mark and are 5-2 in the CWC East.  Iola-Scandinavia enters 5-6 overall and 4-4 in conference play, including an 11-0 loss to Witt-Birn on April 8.  Tonight’s rematch starts at 4:30.

-Elcho and Goodman-Pembine will clash in Northern Lakes Conference baseball in Elcho.  Both teams are in search of their first win.  Game time is set for 5 p.m.

-Thursday softball includes the Antigo Red Robins on the road, looking for a season split with Lakeland after an extra innings loss to the T-Birds early this season.  Antigo is 8-5 overall and 5-3 in the Great Northern Conference.  The T-Birds enter also at 5-3 in the GNC and are 9-7 overall.  First pitch from Minocqua set for 5 p.m.

-Wittenberg-Birnamwood will host Iola-Scandinavia in a 4:30 start from Wittenberg.  It’s the rematch of 9-2 game won by Iola-Scandinavia earlier this season.  The Lady Chargers enter this contest with a 11-5-1 season mark, 6-3 in the Central Wisconsin East Conference.  Iola-Scandinavia is 10-5 overall and lead the CWC East standings at 9-1.

-The Elcho Hornets softball team goes in search of its first win, hosting Goodman-Pembine in a 5 p.m. first pitch.  The Patriots are 5-8 and 2-2 in the Northern Lakes Conference, including a win over the Hornets in the first meeting between the teams this season.

-Golf on this Thursday sees Antigo at Rhinelander for leg number three of the Great Northern Conference Meet, starting at 3, while Wittenberg-Birnamwood plays a large invite at the Northern Bay Course in Arkdale, set to begin at 9 a.m.

-The Wittenebrg-Birnamwood boys and girls track teams are at the Waupaca Invite today, which starts at 4.
