The Wittenberg-Birnamwood Chargers season comes to a semi-end.
The team is finished, but the season continues for Jack Shinners who is moving on to University Ridge as the first player in 8 years to qualify from Antigo.
Coach Steve Fermanich adds: “What a nice semi-finish to this season. As it ends for the rest of the team, it continues on for Jack Shinners. Jack was really mentally into his game and the results sure showed it. This was a very tough and long (Par 73) course with tricky holes and a lot of water. It was an exciting time near the end of the meet to see if Jacks’ 76 was going to hold up, and it did, as the only ones to beat him were on teams that were already qualifying their whole team. Jack finished tied for 4th place and received a medal for it. Now he moves on to University Ridge as the first player in 8 years to qualify from Antigo. I was very proud of Will Kubeny who also shot his best score in a very important tournament. We are young, a freshman, 2 sophmores and a Junior comprise the rest of the team, so this was an excelant finish to have these youngsters play here in the sectionals. I am very proud of all of them.”
