The Robins Varsity squad didn’t waste any time getting things going against Lakeland on Thursday night. Game 1’s final? 21-3.

Matt Winter got things started with a walk, followed by a Wade Farmer single to move Winter over to second. Tatro followed with another single to load the bases. Garrett Held stepped up in a big way, hitting a double to drive in Winter, Farmer and Tatro to put the Robins up 4-0 with no outs. Renfro took a walk, followed by a Kirsch get Tatro across the plate. Sebastian Noskowiak stepped in to the box and smacked a home run over the left field fence, no wind needed to drive in 3 runs. The action continued with Eric Langseth getting on base on a Fielders Choice to bring up Matt Winter and the top of the line up to bat through a second time, still in the first inning. Winter singled and drove home by a Wade Farmer triple to highlight the first inning.

The Robin rolled on in the 3rd. Nick Marshall got things going with a single, Langseth reached on an error while Langseth moved up to 3rd. Winter hit a single and got Langseth over the plate for an RBI, followed by a Farmer single and Tatro reaching on an error. Garrett Held reached on a double, moving Tatro over to let Brady Renfro on base after a double. Kirch came up to the plate and waited patiently for a walk, only to be driven home by Sebby Noskowiak who really shined in this game. Things cooled down after the 3rd innings as expected with Robins trying to get to Game 2 safely.

AJ Kirsch on the mound for the Robins, finished with 3 innings pitched, 4 strikeouts and 4 hits, allowing no runs and no walks. He was relieved by Matt Winter who pitched 1 2/3 and Nick Marshall who finished up the last 1/3, Winter allowed 4 walks, 3 hits, 4 runs and 2 errors while Marshall remained spotless.

Matt Winter went 3-3 with 3 runs scored, Farmer went 2-3 with 2 runs scored, Nick Marshall went 3-4 with 2 runs scored, AJ Kirsch was 2-4 with 2 runs scored and Garrette Held was 2-2 for 2 runs scored.
