Packers Not Likely To Draft RBs

Since it’s the first NFL Draft for Green Bay Packers general manager Brian Gutekunst, it’s hard to predict how the three days will go starting a week from today.  Bet on one thing: Unlike last year, the Packers won’t spend three draft choices on running backs.  That’s the one position where the Pack doesn’t need to do anything.  The guys who carry the ball are increasing in importance again in pro football.  Despite rule changes which have made NFL offenses much more wide-open and pass-oriented, players like Leonard Fournette of the Jaguars and Christian McCaffrey of the Panthers paid big dividends for their teams during their rookie seasons last year.  The Packers have a lot of needs.  Most experts suggest they’ll go for a defensive back or an offensive lineman, but that is yet to be seen.
