Marathon County Acts In Response To Lifting Of Metallic Mining Moratorium

On July 1, a moratorium on metallic mining will be lifted, and now Marathon County Board has passed two proposals to make sure there are protections in place. One measure requires mining companies to minimize damage to the roads and the environment. As part of it, mining companies will be required to pay all fees to bring in experts to do environmental surveys and tests before any mining i s done. Also, the panel approved the creation of a metallic mining oversight committee.
