Merrill Schools Referendum Passes

Antigo, WI, United States /

Residents who live in the Merrill Area Public School’s jurisdiction passed a referendum Tuesday with 62 percent voting in favor and 38 percent against it. The referendum amounts to $2.5 million each year for the next four years and will mean an additional $6 a year for properties valued at $100,000. Schools officials had said that Maple Grove and Jefferson Elementary would have to close if the referendum failed. The revenue raised through the referendum will be used for technical education, funding current programs, maintaining buildings and retaining teachers and staff.
