One-hundred-12 schools are still in the running for seven Wisconsin high school football championships, as Level Two of the playoffs takes place tonight. All seven returning champions from last year are still alive; Kimberly, Brookfield East, Waukesha Catholic Memorial, Saint Croix Central, Amherst, Eau Claire Regis, and Edgar. And none of the 28 Number One seeds across the seven divisions were eliminated in last Friday night’s playoff openers.
Locally the Antigo Red Robins will host the West Salem Panthers at Schofield Stadium. Antigo enters tonight’s contest as the number 1 seed in Region “A” of Division 3. The Great Northern Conference Champion Robins are 9-1 on the season and are coming off a 48-8 drubbing of 8th seeded Medford last Friday. West Salem is 8-2 on the year and tied with Onalaska and Holmen for the Mississippi Valley Conference championship this season. The Panthers advanced with a 17-14 victory over 5th seeded New Richmond last Friday.
