Yankees’ Judge Wins Home Run Derby

Antigo, WI, United States /

(Miami, FL)  —  New York Yankees’ rookie Aaron Judge wins the Major League All Star Home Run Derby. Judge hit eleven homers in Monday night’s final round in Miami to get by Miguel Sano of Minnesota with 1:53 still on the clock. He was the only one of the eight sluggers to hit a ball more than 500 feet, and he belted four of those throughout the evening — the longest being 513 feet in the second round, when he defeated Cody Bellinger of the L-A Dodgers. Judge defeated Miami’s Justin Bour in the first round, and the Derby’s top seed — Giancarlo Stanton of the Marlins — was upset in the opening round by the Yankees’ Gary Sanchez, 17-16. Judge was among four of Monday night’s eight sluggers to play against the Brewers during the past two weekends — and he was the only one to homer against Milwaukee pitching while Stanton, Bour, and Sanchez did not.
