Vikings, Terrors and Tigers no match for Robins

The Antigo Red Robin baseball team traveled to Marshfield over the weekend to participate in the Marshfield tournament.  The Robins came away with a trio of victories as Antigo knocked off Holmen 11-3, Appleton West 11-0 and Marshfield 15-12.

In the Friday evening game against Holmen Cody Urban went 6 innings on the hill in earning the victory, Urban allowed 3 runs on 4 hits, he struck out 3 and issued 2 walks.  Nick Marshall threw the final frame for the Robins.  Offensively every Antigo starter had at least on hit with Matt Winter and Garrett Held each going 3-4, AJ Kirsch, Hunter Kirsch and Collin Meinert each added 2 hits for the Robins.  Coach Scott Farmer also noted the exceptional job defensively at 3rd base by Hunter Kirsch.

AJ Kirsch pitched a gem in the Robins first contest on Saturday against Appleton West.  Kirsch allowed only 1 hit while recording 10 K’s and issuing 3 walks in the mercy rule shortened affair.  Matt Winter had another great game at the plate going 4-4, Brady Tatro, Hunter Kirsch, Garrett Held and Collin Meinert each had 2 hits for Antigo.

In the final game of the tournament for the Robins Antigo slugged out a 15-12 win over Marshfield.  Nick Marshall earned the win in 1 inning of work giving up 2 runs on 2 hits, Marshall issued 2 walks also.  Jesse Jankowski got the start on the mound before being relieved by in the 4th.  Sebby Noskowiak threw the last 3 innings for Antigo.  AJ Kirsch and Wade Farmer each had 3 hits for the Robins, Matt Arndt, Hunter Kirsch, Garrett Held and Jesse Jankowski added two hits apiece and as in the Holmen game, every Antigo starter had at least one hit.

The Robins take the field again on Tuesday when they host the Rhinelander Hodags at Kretz Brothers Park beginning at 5pm.
