Robin Softball team goes 3-0 in Merrill tournament

The Antigo Red Robins softball team went 3-0 in the Merrill tournament played on Saturday.

The Robins opened the day with a 8-2 victory over Gresham.  Abby Robrecht went the distance for Antigo giving up 2 runs on 3 hits, she struck out 6 and walked 1.  Laynie Weix, Laurissa Belott and Molly Fermanich each had 2 hits for the Robins.

In the second contest the Robins knocked off Merrill 4-3, Antigo scored 3 runs in the first inning and Kendall Smith hit a solo home run in the bottom of the 6th to give Antigo the victory.  Allison Kondzela tossed all 7 innings giving up 3 runs on 7 hits, she stuck out 7 and did not issue a walk, Kondzela also added 2 doubles.  Lizzy West added 2 hits for Antigo in the win.

In the third contest of the day the Robins defeated Tomah in 6 innings 15-3.  Smith was 3-3 with a double, Laynie Weix, Belott and Allison Peters all had mulit-hit performances for Antigo.  With the wins Antigo improved to 13-2 overall, the Robins will be in action this afternoon as they host Wausau East at Lake Park beginning at 4:30.
