Antigo Baseball team sweeps double-header from T-Birds

The Antigo Red Robins baseball team swept two games from the Lakeland Thunderbirds on Thursday, winning game 1 7-2 and game 2 9-2.

AJ Kirsch threw 5 solid innings in game 1, allowing only 2 hits while striking out 7 and issuing 2 walks.  Hunter Kirsch threw the final 2 innings giving up 2 runs on 2 hits, striking out 1 and walking 2.  TJ Ullius took the loss for Lakeland.

Offensively Antigo belted out 9 hits on the day lead by 2-3 performances by AJ Kirsch, Jesse Jankowsi and Luke Schroeder.  Matt Winter, Hunter Kirsch and Matt Arndt also added hits for the Robins, Winter, AJ Kirsch and Jankowski each had 2 RBI’s, Hunter Kirsch also had an RBI for Antigo.

Game 2 statistics were unavailable at the time of publishing.

With the wins Antigo improves to 7-0 in the GNC and 12-2 overall.  The Robins also gained sole possession of 1st place in the conference with Rhinelanders’ 1-0 loss to Medford.  Antigo is back in action this afternoon when they travel to Wausau East.
