Trial Ordered In School Gun Case

Antigo, WI, United States /

(Appleton, WI)  —  A Wausau man has been ordered to stand trial for allegedly taking a gun to Appleton East High School. Blong Vang is scheduled to enter pleas next Tuesday to felony charges of possessing a firearm on school grounds, child abuse, and bail jumping. Officials say the 21-year-old Vang and two other teens were at the school to get revenge on a student who was said to be bullying Vang’s girlfriend — but the three denied any intent to harm the student. A school officer stopped 17-year-old Tou Thao and a 16-year-old in a hallway at Appleton East on April 13th, learned they were not students, and then found a car in the parking lot where Vang reportedly was. After searching the vehicle, police say they two guns and apparent evidence of gang affiliation — and Thao is due in court Thursday on a child abuse charge.
