Early on, it was a game of missed opportunities. The Robins loaded the bases in the second with nobody out and couldn’t plate a run. Luckily. Kendall Smith kept the Robins in the game in the mound. The Robins had a lot of opportunities with runners on but just didn’t get the around to score. The Robins had a decent lead going into the sixth when the wheels came off a bit.
Going into the bottom of the seventh, The Robins needed two to tie. Key hits by Lizzy West, Abby Robrecht, Taylor Arrowood and a huge game tying RBI by Laynie Weix sent us to extra innings. After a scoreless eighth, Taylor led off with a hit, Meghan Bussiere with a sac to move her over and Laynie Weix again with another huge hit to score the winning run.
Laynie Weix was 3-6 with a triple and the game winning RBI, Abby Robrecht was 3-5 with a run scored, Taylor Arrowood was 3-4 with 2 runs scored. Kendall Smith went the full game, striking out 6, walking 1, allowing 6 hits on 7 runs.
The Robins jumped out to a lead but couldn’t maintain it. Medford was able to get timely hits with runners on and the Robins just couldn’t quite get back up. Kendall smith had two homers on the day and Abby Robrecht added one, too in the first game. Emily Brettingen had solid plate appearances as well. The final was 11-8.
From Coach Sandi Robrecht: “We are getting more confident in the box, our pitching is coming around, we just need to sure up a few things defensively.”
