Governor Scott Walker signed his school safety plan into law this morning. Walker signed the bill at Victor Haen Elementary School in Kaukauna. The bill creates an Office of School Safety in the Wisconsin Department of Justice. This will focus on training and resources for schools. It also provides $100 million to fund a grant program for school security upgrades. The bill was introduced following the shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida in which 17 students were murdered.
