Brewers’ manager Craig Counsell expects to have a big group of starting pitchers come September, when the Crew can expand its active roster from 25 players to 40. Right hander Brandon Woodruff was sent down to Triple “A” Colorado Springs Sunday, to make room for the returning Chase Anderson. The game plan is for Woodruff to keep throwing at Triple “A” until the Brewers need a fifth starter on September second. Left hander Brent Suter is also due back next month, after he started throwing again following his placement on the disabled list with a strained rotator cuff. Counsell could have as many as seven starters at his disposal next month, including Opening Day starter Junior Guerra, who was sent down to Triple “A” in July.
