The WIAA has released the Baseball and Softball seeds and pairings for 2017 tournaments.
In Division 2 the Antigo Red Robin baseball team has earned a 1 seed in regional “A” section 2, and a first round bye. Antigo will open tournament play on Tuesday, May 30th against the winner of 4th seeded Medford and 5th seeded Tomahawk. The Robins have two regular season contest remaining, tonight at Mosinee and Monday at Rhinelander. Antigo is currently 19-2 overall on the season and 10-0 in the Great Northern Conference, the Robins have won 18 straight games and are ranked 7th in the latest WBCA poll.
In Division 3 the Wittenberg-Birnamwood Charger Baseball team has also earned a number 1 seed and a first round bye, Witt-Birn will open tournament play on May 30th as they await the winner of 4th seeded Iola-Scandinavia and 5th seed Amherst.
In Division 4 Elcho earned a 5 seed and will open tournament play on Thursday, May 25th at Florence while White Lake earned a 6 seed and will also be on the road at 3rd seeded Bowler.
On the softball side the Red Robin softball team earned a 2 seed in regional “B” section 1 in division 2, also receiving a first round bye. They will open tournament play on Wednesday, May 24th hosting the winner of the 7th seeded Lakeland and 10th seeded Abbotsford/Colby contest. The Robins will wrap up regular season play tonight taking on Mosinee at Lake Park. Antigo is currently 18-5 overall and 8-3 in the Great Northern Conference.
In Division 3 the Wittenberg-Birnamwood Charger softball team earned a 9 seed and will travel to the 8th seeded Gillett/Suring co-op on Tuesday, May 23rd to open tournament play with the winner traveling to top seeded Oconto the following day.
Finally in Division 5 the Elcho Hornets earned a 6 seed and will hit the road to take on the 3rd seeded St. Thomas Aquinas/Lena co-op.
