Across the country, law enforcement agencies continue to be more militarized, and now Langlade County may be taking step in that direction. The Board of Supervisors will vote at tomorrow’s meeting on a tax-exempt lease-purchase agreement for an armored tactical vehicle for the Langlade County Sheriff’s Department. The Lenco BearCat is a popular model with law enforcement agencies across the country. If the County Board approves the resolution, the total coast for the BearCat will be nearly 177-thousand-dollars. The Sheriff’s Department will pay almost 78 thousand dollars as a down payment out of federal forfeiture funds. The three year lease would amount to just over 36-thousand dollars a year.
