For the second straight game the Antigo Red Robin baseball team defeated an opponent by 20 runs. After knocking off Northland Pines 20-0 on Tuesday the Robins crushed Medford 25-5 last night.
Antigo pounded out 22 hits in the contest and after a scoreless 1st inning the Robins would send 13 batters to the plate in the 2nd with all 9 Antigo starters scoring before Medford recorded an out. Antigo would pick up another run in the 3rd to go up 10-1. Antigo would plate 11 more runs in the 4th inning sending 15 batters to the plate to go up 21-3. Medford cut the lead to 21-5 scoring twice in the bottom of the 4th. The Robins tacked on 4 more runs in the top of the 5th including a 2 run home run by Jesse Jankowski to push the final margin to 25-5 in favor of the Robins.
Matt Winter was 4-5 for Antigo, Brady Tatro added 3 hits with 2 doubles, AJ Kirsch was 2-4 with a double and a triple, Garrett Held had 2 hits, as did Matt Arndt and Collin Meinert and Wade Farmer was 3-5 for the Robins.
Brady Tatro picked up the win for the Robins going 4 2/3 innings, allowing 5 runs on 10 hits; he stuck out 5 and walked 1. Hunter Kirsch came in and recorded the final out for Antigo. Taylor Shaw took the loss for Medford going 1 plus inning. With the win Antigo improves to 9-0 in the GNC and 15-2 overall, Medford falls to 4-6 in conference and 8-11 overall.
The Robins will hit the field again this afternoon at the Marshfield tournament taking on Holmen, Antigo will face Appleton West and Marshfield on Saturday before returning to conference play on Tuesday when they host 2nd place Rhinelander for Senior Day at Kretz Brothers Park, which is also the last regular season home game for the Robins.
