9 Run First Inning propels Robins past Hatchets

The Antigo Red Robin Baseball team plated 9 runs and sent 14 batters to the plate in the 1st inning on Tuesday night, as the Robins crushed Tomahawk 14-3 at Kretz Brothers Park in 5 innings.

Cody Urban threw a gem for Antigo going 4 innings, giving up no runs on 2 hits, Urban struck out 4 Hatchet batters and did not issue a walk.  Matt Winter came on in relief in the 5th inning going 2/3rds of an inning giving up 3 runs on 3 hits while walking 3 Tomahawk batters.  Colin Meinert relieved Winter and recorded the final out.  Zach Volz took the loss for Tomahawk in 1 inning of work.

Offensively Antigo pounded out 11 hits lead by Brady Tatro’s 3-4 performance including a triple; Tatro also had 2 RBI’s.  AJ Kirsch went 3-3 with a double and 2 RBI’s, Luke Schroeder added 2 hits and Hunter Kirsch added a 2 RBI double in the 3rd inning.  Also adding hits for Antigo were Matt Winter with a double, and Jesse Jankowski.

The Robins improved to 10-2 overall and 5-0 in the GNC with the win.  Antigo will host the Lakeland Thunderbirds on Thursday in a double-header at Kretz Brothers Park.
