The Antigo Red Robin softball team carried a 1-0 lead into the 6th inning against Mosinee on Tuesday evening but couldn’t hold on as the Indians scored 4 runs in the bottom of the 6th to come away with a 4-3 victory over Antigo.
Allison Kondzela put the Robins on top in the top of the 4th inning hitting a lead-off homerun off of Mosinee pitcher Megan Soukup and the Robins would carry that lead into the 6th inning where Mosinee would get to Antigo starting pitcher Kondzela for 3 runs and added one more off of reliever Kendall Smith to take a 4-1 advantage. The Robins would get to within 1 plating 2 runs in the top of the 7th as Laurissa Belott and Laynie Weix both came across to score but Antigo couldn’t get the tying run across.
Bellott lead the Robins at the plate going 3-4 and Abi Fleischman went 2-4, Kondzela was 1-3 with the 4th inning home run. Also adding hits for Antigo were Laynie Weix, Lizzy West and Liv Weix.
Kondzela took the loss for Antigo going 5 1/3rd innings giving up 3 runs on 3 hits while striking out 6 and issuing 3 walks, Kendall Smith threw the final 2/3rds of an inning giving up 1 run on 1 hit, she struck out 2 and walked 2.
With the loss Antigo falls to 6-2 overall and 3-1 in the GNC, the Robins will be back in action on Thursday at Marshfield.
