The Antigo Red Robin baseball team jumped out to a 9-0 lead through 3 innings on Mosinee at Kretz Brothers Park yesterday afternoon and hung on for an 11-6 victory over the Indians. The Robins tagged Indian starter Jace Bauman for 8 runs through 1 1/3rd innings before he was relieved by Ben Vandehey. Vandehey went the rest of the way for Mosinee giving up 3 additional runs over 4 2/3rds innings.
AJ Kirsch got the start for Antigo and cruised through the first 3 innings before Mosinee got to him for 4 runs in the 4th, 3 of them unearned. Kirsch ended the day after going 3 2/3rds innings giving up the 4 runs (1 earned) on 4 hits, striking out 3 and walking 3. Cody Urban came on in relief and went 1 inning giving up 2 runs on 1 hit, he struck out 1 and walked 3. Jesse Jankowski tossed the final 2 1/3rd innings and did not give up a run on 2 hits, he stuck out 3 and walked 1.
Offensively for Antigo Brady Tatro and Hunter Kirsch added two hits apiece, Kirsch also added 3 RBI’s. Wade Farmer added a triple and 2 RBI’s as well. Matt Arndt, Matt Winter, AJ Kirsch, Garrett Held and Collin Meinert also added hits for the Robins.
Antigo scored 11 runs on 10 hits, left 5 on base and committed 1 error. Mosinee had 6 runs on 7 hits, left 5 on base and committed 2 errors. With the win Antigo improves to 4-0 in the GNC and 8-2 overall, the Robins are back in action on Friday when they travel to Stevens Point to take on the SPASH Panthers.
