Garrett Held blasted a 2 run homer in the 2nd inning Friday afternoon to help lead the Antigo Red Robins to a 6-3 victory over visiting Waupaca. Antigo jumped out to a 3-0 advantage through 3 innings behind Held’s 2 run blast and an RBI single in the 3rd by Held driving in AJ Kirsch who lead off the inning with a double.
Waupaca would answer with 3 runs of there own in the top of the 4th inning off Robin’s starter Brady Tatro. Antigo would take the lead for good in the bottom of the 4th as Luke Schroeder scored after an error on the Comet’s center fielder and the Robins added insurance runs in the 5th and 6th innings to secure the 6-3 victory.
Tatro picked up the win going 5 innings for Antigo, giving up 3 runs on 5 hits while striking out 7 and issuing just 2 walks. AJ Kirsch picked up the save throwing the 6th and 7th innings, Kirsch struck out 4 and did not allow a base runner.
Offensively Antigo pounded out 12 hits on the day lead by Held who went 2 for 4 with a run scored and 3 RBI, Hunter Kirsch, Jesse Jankowski and Matt Arndt also added 2 hits each for the Robins.
