The Antigo Red Robin baseball team was in action on Thursday afternoon picking up a 15-5 5 inning victory over Northland Pines. Pines jumped out to an early 3-0 lead in the 1st inning but the Robins would come back and score two in the bottom of the frame and then take the lead in the 2nd inning exploding for 10 runs as Antigo sent 15 batters to the plate to take a 12-3 advantage. The Eagles would push 2 more runs across in the top of the 3rd to make it 12-5 but the Robins added 2 more runs in the 3rd and 1 in the 4th while holding Northland Pines scoreless the rest of the way to pick up the 5 inning mercy rule victory.
Brady Tatro earned the win on the Hill for Antigo throwing 2 innings, giving up 3 runs on 4 hits, striking out 2 and walking 2. Cody Urban also pitched 2 innings for the Robins, giving up 2 unearned runs on no hits, Urban struck out 7 Eagle batters while walking just 1. AJ Kirsch threw a scoreless 5th inning giving up 1 hit and recording 2 strikeouts.
Kirsch also led the Robins offensive attack with 3 hits, 2 runs scored and an RBI, Luke Schroeder was 2 for 3 with 3 runs scored and an RBI, Matt Winter was 2 for 4 with a double, 2 runs scored and an RBI, Tatro was 2-3 with 2 runs scored and 2 RBI and Nick Marshall also added a 2 RBI single for Antigo.
With the win Antigo improves to 2-0 in the Great Northern Conference and 5-2 overall, the Robins will be back in action on Tuesday when they host Medford at Kretz Brothers Park.
